For this blog post, I want to focus on Facebook. The two groups I keep up with the most are Wolfpack Students and the group for my organization Alpha Phi Omega. APO is an N.C. State organization so by default there is a connection between my group.<\/p>\n
I think this affects the things that I see in my feed in that I think for the most part college-aged students are of a fairly liberal mindset; therefore, I often see a lot of posts about politics. I also think that college students like to have fun and experience new things, so I often see posts about traveling or partying.<\/p>\n
I really enjoy satirical comments and posts especially in response to political jargon. I think that often politics can be a really heavy topic and I like to have friends that are light-hearted and easy-going, which is why I think I’m attracted to the satirical posts. They provide a break from the seriousness.<\/p>\n
While I often interact with my peers on Facebook, I have noticed that most often my family comments and interacts with my posts on Facebook. Unfortunately, due to my busy lifestyle, I do not get to see my family as often as I would like and so I think that Facebook provides a way for them to keep up with me. I think for the most part I only post positive experiences and things on Facebook so they probably have a positive view of me.<\/p>\n
In reference to our readings, it does not really bother me that social media has access to some of my personal information. If I wanted to keep something private I wouldn’t share it on social media.
